I Am Not A Poet

Poems I made for an English subject in High School, year 2008.

My Sweet Grace (heroic couplet)
Starring at his glossy eyes
It makes me melt like a cube of ice
Touching and pinching his cheeky face
Oh God! Thank you for this sweet grace.

Mine (Ottawa Rima)
These words are hard to bind
What is it I should write?
I think I'm losing my mind
Trying to make this poem right.
This is something you will never find
Though I am not that bright,
I made this from line to line
So I tell you that this is mine!

Sun At Noon (Ballad Stanza)
All in a hot and bright sky
The yellow sun, at noon.
Right up above the clouds it rose.
No bigger than the moon.

Mother (Rhyme Royal)
Once or twice is enough
When I hear you yell
I can't deny, you are tough
Your words I can hear them dwell
Wishing I could shield myself with a shell
Mother, Oh Mother please stop!
I swear I'm gonna drop.

Diminished

"Did you ever wonder what it would be like if you weren't you anymore? If you were suddenly gone how would your world react? Whatever you imagined was wrong. There's nothing romantic about death. Grief is like the ocean: it's deep and dark and bigger than all of us. And pain is like a thief in the night. Quiet. Persistent. Unfair. Diminished by time and faith and love."
- One Tree Hill, Season 6

I've been having weird thoughts about it lately. It makes me feel sad and scared, but that's probably how everyone else feels about death. It frightens me to think how my time will end - when, where, and what. There's this melancholic feeling when I try to imagine all the people I've grown so close with, see me gone. Though I am only 19, anything unexpectedly can happen. I don't want death to take me early. I want to fulfill my dreams, to travel the world, to share so much of my time with my children and my children's children, someday. I want to experience growing old with wrinkles and gray hair and to die in my bed looking like that, smiling my last breath away. I would like to imagine death to be peaceful that way.
